For my preschooler, this angel kids craft was a nice alternative to snow play. The craft can also be converted into an angel Christmas ornament. The angel uses an outline of the child's hands and one foot to form the wings and body, and a personal photo of the child's face makes it personal. My daughter has a spitfire personality, so I loved the ultimate result of this craft thanks to the addition of her face to the angel.
Strawberry, aged 3, had a little difficulty with the scissors, so my son and I helped with the cutting. Older kids could do this craft themselves!
Supplies Needed for the Easy Angel Christmas Ornaments
Here's what's need:
Preparation and assembly was about 10 minutes, then a few hours of drying time, and then a few more minutes. Again, my son and I helped the preschooler!
How to Make the Homemade Angel Christmas Craft
First, we traced her hands and one of her feet. This is always fun to do. These are the wings and body of our angel.
Then, we cut them out. My son helped Strawberry out!
We also cut out a circle the size of the face on the photo.
Once we had all the pieces cut out, we glued the circle to top of the foot on the back. We also glued the thumbs to the back of the foot. Strawberry loves gluing! The pieces wanted to slide around because she added far too much glue. No harm done! That's what makes it fun.
We had to wait for the craft glue to dry. Here's how it looked on the back when it was set.
When it was finally dry, we glued Strawberry's face over the circle on the front of the angel.
The craft could be finished at this point, but we decided she needed a halo, since she's so angelic. We cut the sparkly pipe cleaner and wrapped it around the top of the face, gluing it in the back.
She loves the end result! She wants to add a string on the back so we can hang it up in her room or on the Christmas tree and she can "fly"! Maybe you could give homemade angel Christmas ornaments for family. See more
