Hands-On Kindergarten Math with Goldilocks and Friends

Written by Rebecca Reid

If there is one story that my kids loved to return to over and over again when they were little, it was Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I added these favorite Goldilocks characters to kindergarten math activities, making hands-on learning fun and connecting our math lessons in with our story reading activities.

Counting, putting numbers in order, practicing patterns, and more: These kindergarten math activities with Goldilocks make learning hands-on and fun.

Learning from Goldilocks

Because we love to read the story of Goldilocks, we enjoy reading a few different versions to compare and contrast. Some of our favorites include the stories by Jan Brett, Byron Barton, and James Marshall.

There are lots more versions. In my picture book lesson plan, I annotated more than 20 different versions. My kindergartner and even my third grader enjoyed reading the different versions. It became a fun theme to our story times together. My kindergartner also practiced retelling the story by illustrating the story herself.
