There is one thing my preschooler always loves doing, and that is eating sugar-filled anything. It is our tradition then to bake Christmas treats for friends each year. Preparing Christmas treats and giving them to friends is a simple and fun activity for young children. We share Christmas treats to show that we care.
Everyone has their favorite Christmas treats! Here are some of mine.
The list could go on and on! Add your favorites to the list as well.
For my little ones, giving treats to people is a a delightful treat to them as well. They beg to be the one to deliver the treats to the door. They follow up with the friends to ask them (later) if they enjoyed the cookies (etc.). They remember.
Making treats will not always be a perfect display of design. I let my kids decorate the sugar cookies just this last week. Let me say, when you mix red and green sprinkles together, the cookie will look brown. It may not look very neat at all. But the act of decorating and the act of giving will be a blessing to your child as well as the receiver.
