Multiplication is my third grader's nemesis this year. I remember the dreaded weekly multiplication tests from my own third-grade year. So, any way we can make practicing the times tables into a game, the better!
Raisin actually helped me figure out how to make this baseball multiplication game. We use the ten-sided die and baseball equations to practice solidifying our multiplication facts.
The King is up at bat, with two outs! Will he get a home run this time?
Setting up the Baseball Multiplication Game
Here are the things we needed to prepare and play this game.
I included a simple baseball field with scorecard and a place to mark the number of outs. My 4-year-old daughter loved being the score keeper for us!
We used small magnets (a girl and a King) because my son found them and wanted to be "the king" baseball team. I've also included baseball player images in the free printable.
Playing the Baseball Multiplication Game
The number on the die is the first part of the equation. The baseballs have the second half of the equation.
The second time we played, we decided that 1 and 2 on the die were 11 and 12, just to make it a bit more challenging!
We had a lot of fun adding in some excitement to our times tables review. Strawberry could not, obviously, help with the multiplication problems, but she was good at keeping score for us and moving the players around the baseball diamond!
Kindergarten math is the most fun. To add (pun intended) to the fun when we learned the basics of adding and subtracting with ten frames, I set up a chocolate-chip cookie game to emphasize the skills she is learning. What could be more fun than collecting chocolate chip cookies! But this game is not just
We needed to review some basic subtraction. I made it even more fun by using fun subtraction activities just perfect for the Valentine’s Day season. About the Valentine’s Day Subtraction Activities Subtraction Hearts is subtraction practice for numbers 25 and less. It includes more than 60 pages of practice including the following games and activities: A
It is so much fun to play games, and my daughter simply loves everything Christmas related! Here is a fun North Pole Mix-Up free printable Christmas game for kids to play together this season.
When my son was 4 years old, he loved watching Finding Nemo, which led to a deep love for the coral reef and all the creatures the main characters in the movie encountered there. Sea turtles, sting rays, barracuda, jellyfish, and, of course, clown fish. All of these coral reef creatures were friends. Whenever we visited
March is Rainbow season! I love figuring out how to incorporate rainbow fun into our homeschool. For my kindergartner, who loves rainbows, I decided to make a rainbow as a learning project for remembering the ten bonds for early math skills! This fun rainbow math craft takes very little time but it creates a physical
What do you do for your students for Valentine’s Day? Here is a fun way to give a STEM Valentine’s Day card to your students or children — crack a code! My STEM Challenge class loved trying to figure the codes out. My preschooler enjoyed matching the symbols to the letters (although she could not
