My kids love to have cold cereal for breakfast. But there is something even better that is a treat for us: granola. With milk or with yogurt, breakfast granola is a sturdy alternative. Plus, this is a super kid-friendly granola recipe to make: the kids can do almost every step themselves, there is a messy part that is literally hands-on, and the end result is tasty!
The assembly of the ingredients requires to bowls: a big bowl for the dry ingredients and a smaller bowl for the wet messy stuff.
Once the two bowls are set up, it’s time to get messy! With scrubbed clean hands, the kids pour the sticky mixture into the oats and mix it together with their fingers!
Once the combination is all moist, we spread out the oats on the tray and pop it in the over. Plus, it’s time to lick our sticky fingers!
Every ten minutes as the oats are cooking, we have to pull it out of the oven and mix it again. Since my eight-year-old son is still a bit squeamish about hot pans and ovens, I was on hand to do the oven work and the tossing of the hot granola for him.
Add in dried fruit of choice and any toasted nuts (cooked separately), and this recipe is ready for enjoying!
Eaten in milk or with yogurt, or even munched by itself, kid-friendly granola is simply delicious!
