Mother and Baby Matching Activities

$3.00

Match mother animals with their babies in this set of hands-on play: a barnyard scene, tracing pages, and matching flashcards.

Sort items in categories based on if it has a mother or not, and match the baby animals to their parents in this set of activities related to Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman.

The first activity is a simple cut-and-paste sort asking children to cut out the objects and sort them in to the correct side: “Has a Mother” or “Does not have a mother.”

Next is a barn template for making a mother-baby farm animal sort. If desired, cut out the animals and match. Or, tape the animal strips together to make a slide-and-match activity, as shown in the image to the right. The babies fit in the top window, and the mothers fit in the barn doors space.

Pages 7 to 9 include tracing pages for children to practice tracing lines from the baby animal to the mother.

The remainder of this set includes mother and baby flashcards. Pages 10-15 are without labels. Pages 16 to 21 include the name of the animal and the name of the baby.
