12 Awesome Outdoor Activities for Active Toddlers

Post by Rebecca Reid 17 Comments

active toddlersStrawberry is a very active toddler. And she loves going outside. So as summer begins, I’m on the hunt for activities that will help her get her energy out all the while maybe … possibly … learning something. I’ve found some awesome kid bloggers to share some ideas with you. Here is a roundup of more than 12 awesome outdoor activities for active toddlers like Strawberry. I hope some of them help you in keeping sane this summer too!

Active toddlers keep their parents busy! This list of simple outdoor activities will keep them busy.Learning with Toddler Outside Activities

  • Strawberry can hop on color circles to practice color recognition. She really does not know colors yet at all! (from Learn. Play. Imagine.)
  • We might try learning some letters with a fun alphabet jogging game. (from Toddler Approved)
  • Maybe we’ll draw a map of the world with chalk on the driveway and “travel the world.”
  • As I mentioned yesterday, we will be spending lots of time at playgrounds this summer!

Playing with Toddlers Outside

  • We can paint a huge, oversized painting together. She will love this! (from Happiness is Homemade)
  • Or maybe we’ll simply paint with water. Strawberry will probably love this too and it’s less messy. (From Hands On We Grow)
  • We might run our own car wash! (from No Time for Flash Cards)
  • We can play with hula hoops (other than actually hula-ing, that is). (From Learn. Play. Imagine.)
  • We might make a circus in our backyard.
  • We will make bubbles and enjoy chasing them. (from Our Little House in the Country)
  • Strawberry loves balls so we might play with balls a lot this summer.
  • Strawberry can run around the yard with homemade twirling ribbon sticks. So simple and yet she’ll feel like a princess as she tears through the yard. (from Happy Hooligans)
  • When it gets really hot, we’ll dump out the ice tray and play with it.

Remembering Summer Activities

  • Best of all, we can make a booklet all about your adventures this summer. Strawberry will love reading her book with pictures of things that she has done! (From TwoDaloo)
  • We can track out summer activities (inside or out!) with a summer activity “passport” booklet.

Some of our favorite outdoor toys might also help make your toddler’s summer fantastic! (Affiliate links provided for your convenience.)
