Baseball Multiplication Game with Ten-Sided Dice

Multiplication is my third grader’s nemesis this year. I remember the dreaded weekly multiplication tests from my own third-grade year. So, any way we can make practicing the times tables into a game, the better!

Raisin actually helped me figure out how to make this baseball multiplication game. We use the ten-sided die and baseball equations to practice solidifying our multiplication facts.

The King is up at bat, with two outs! Will he get a home run this time?

Setting up the Baseball Multiplication Game

Here are the things we needed to prepare and play this game.

• printer
• laminator and dry erase markers (for keeping score)
• 1-inch circle punch (this is the one I have)
• 10-sided dice

I included a simple baseball field with scorecard and a place to mark the number of outs. My 4-year-old daughter loved being the score keeper for us!

We used small magnets (a girl and a King) because my son found them and wanted to be “the king” baseball team. I’ve also included baseball player images in the free printable.

Playing the Baseball Multiplication Game

The number on the die is the first part of the equation. The baseballs have the second half of the equation.

The second time we played, we decided that 1 and 2 on the die were 11 and 12, just to make it a bit more challenging!

We had a lot of fun adding in some excitement to our times tables review. Strawberry could not, obviously, help with the multiplication problems, but she was good at keeping score for us and moving the players around the baseball diamond!
